Sunset Lodge is situated on the banks of the St Lucia Estuary, within a World Heritage Site.

The Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park – now known as the iSimangaliso Wetland Park – was declared South Africa’s first Natural World Heritage Site on 1 December 1999. It is considered South Africa’s third-largest park and extends from Mapelane (Cape St Lucia) in the south to Kosi Bay Nature Reserve in the north.

You will find us situated at the end of the main street, called McKenzie Street, in the quieter part of town. We are within walking distance of all shops, restaurants, and amenities.

Our luxurious self-catering log cabins are fully equipped and have wooden decks where you can sit and relax while enjoying our magical African sunsets.

Guests can enjoy a swim in our crystal-clear swimming pool, which overlooks the famous St Lucia Estuary. We often have hippos grazing on our lawn, as well as warthogs, red duiker, bushbuck, banded mongoose, bush babies, and vervet monkeys.

Our birdlife is very active. We often hear the cry of the fish eagle, and we have resident loeries (now called Knysna turacos), trumpeter hornbills, brown-hooded kingfishers, and yellow-billed kites.
