It's only about a 2-minute drive into the centre of the village, which offers shopping, art galleries, and restaurants serving wholesome country food. Wakkerstroom is surrounded by a large wetland area and is well known as one of South Africa's premier bird-watching destinations. Ossewa Kop is also great for hiking.
This lovely, spacious, airy home has 4 bedrooms, accommodating up to 8 guests. The main bedroom features a queen bed and an en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom also has a queen bed with an en-suite bathroom, while the third and fourth bedrooms each have twin ¾ beds and share a bathroom just across the hallway. There are 3 bathrooms in total, each fitted with a toilet, shower, and bath.
The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped for a self-catering stay, featuring a fridge-freezer, gas stove and oven, microwave, toaster, and kettle. The dining area seats 6 and flows into the lounge, which is fitted with a comfortable couch and two oversized bean bags — perfect for lazy afternoons. The sitting room includes a TV and a wood-burning fireplace.
Outside, a covered front stoep with a free-standing braai provides the ideal space for outdoor entertaining. Parking is available in a double lock-up garage.
The property is 99% off-grid - no load shedding - and is supplied with fresh, clean drinking water from a borehole.
A little more about Stonehill Cottage and its other residents: The property is also home to free-range European bush pigs. While two were hand-raised, these pigs are not tame. Please do not enter their enclosure, as they may bite. They are also not dog-friendly. A chicken coop and camp are on site — guests are welcome to feed the chickens using the provided food and to enjoy some of the fresh free-range eggs during their stay.
Pet-friendly: The property is safely enclosed. Please note that very small pets are the responsibility of their owners — ensure they cannot slip through any fences or gates.
Experience a genuine farm feel without straying far from the heart of the village.
