At River Cottages we offer both recreational and overnight accommodation in a breathtaking environment, with 3 fully equipped self-catering houses sleeping up to 12 guests per house, as well as 7 two-sleeper and 2 four-sleeper self-catering units. The houses are located right on the banks of the Vaal River, whilst the two sleeper units are just 200 m away from the river. There are lovely inviting swimming pools, lapas, and built in braai facilities for those hot, lazy summer days. The location lends itself beautifully to functions and special occasions, as the property is very large and picturesque.

The little country town of Parys lies on the banks of the Vaal River, about 60 min drive from Johannesburg and 90 min from Pretoria. It is the ideal place for enjoying total peace and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Parys is essentially a farming community, but it has become a popular recreation town due to the loads of outdoor activities on offer, the Vaal River, and because of its proximity to major cities.

The Vaal River runs for about 1 km through our property and its banks are lined with weeping willows and reeds – the perfect invitation for those fond of water-related activities such as fishing, canoeing, and river rafting. There are some lovely hiking and 4X4 trails in and around the town, as well as art, antique stores, coffee shops, and a wide range of excellent restaurants.
