Lone Tree Wilderness Camp on Tswehe Wildlife Reserve is an off-the-grid, rustic yet refined wilderness camp sleeping a total of 16 people in 8 tented units. Each unit is kitted with two single beds, the most comfortable linen, a luggage rack to place your bags and belongings, a hammock and chairs on the deck outside. The camp has 2 x family units which are connected by a walkway above ground. Two units share one bathroom, which consists of a flush toilet and bucket shower with hot water from a donkey boiler.
The main living area boasts a stunning, fully equipped kitchen, fridges and freezers, where delicious home-cooked meals can be prepared by you or our chef. The lodge has a variety of comfy corners to hide away and read your favourite book or to be gregarious and sit and chat or play games with family and friends.
The centre of the lodge is Lone Tree itself, an ancient Nyala Berry tree, who over time has fallen over, yet continues to live and thrive. Below the tree is our fireplace and boma, and just across from there is our swimming pool and deck for those hot, Tuli summer days.
The entire lodge looks onto the waterhole where we have built an underground photographic hide for you to enjoy the visiting wildlife and birds up close and intimately. It certainly takes one’s breath away, when a magnificent Elephant stands a mere metre away to drink its fill.
Lone Tree Wilderness Camp is about getting close to nature again, its about pressing a much-needed pause in our hectic daily lives and fully experiencing the beauty of the wilderness and its inhabitants. At Lone Tree Wilderness Camp mankind and the animal kingdom live alongside each other in harmony, a truly life-changing experience.
