Bidstone Cottages – Wild Mountain Country Hospitality

Nestled in the heart of Wild Mountain country near Barkly East, Bidstone Cottages offers beautifully restored stone cottages and a family-friendly farmhouse that together accommodate up to 15 guests. Each space is designed for comfort, warmth, and authenticity, with Percale linen, cosy fireplaces, comfortable sofas, and the unmistakable charm of mountain living. Guests can enjoy hearty country-style meals served in our private dining room and Aga-heated farm kitchen, while self-catering options and a character-filled country pub are also available for those who prefer a more independent stay.

The Farmhouse
The lovingly converted original homestead is ideal for a family of five or two couples. It features two double bedrooms, a single bedroom, a family bathroom with a bath and shower, a fully equipped farm kitchen, a dining area, and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. The warm and inviting kitchen includes a stove, fridge, microwave, and a traditional Aga stove that keeps the home snug throughout winter, creating a favourite gathering place. The main bedroom enjoys beautiful morning and afternoon light, the second double bedroom is bright with morning sun, and the third room offers a unique and charming single space.

Cottage 1
Cottage 1 is a spacious option for up to four guests, featuring a double bedroom and a second room with two single beds. The cottage includes heaters for the crisp winter months, along with tea and coffee facilities, and lovely views of the garden.

Cottage 2
Perfect for a couple seeking tranquillity, Cottage 2 offers a double bed with a private bathroom, an open fireplace, tea and coffee facilities, and relaxing views over the garden and lake.

Cottage 3
Cottage 3 is a delightful two-bedroom retreat with its own private lounge area. Each bedroom has twin beds and a private en-suite bathroom, while the lounge features a cosy fireplace. Guests can enjoy tea and coffee amenities and peaceful garden views.

The one-acre garden, trout dam, and unspoiled mountain surroundings offer a deep sense of peace. Evenings can be spent under star-filled skies, enjoying a wood-fired pizza, while days invite hammock lounging beside the water and watching weavers nest. Children can feed the pigs, ride the miniature pony, and pick fresh vegetables, and pets are warmly welcomed.
